FOR DISTRIBUTED TEAMS

Callmart for remote and distributed insurance teams

No office, no landlines: route calls to a softphone, a phone, or an iPhone, and manage who is on the clock from anywhere.

A distributed team does not share a floor, a phone system, or the same hours, and that used to mean a real infrastructure project before anyone could take an inbound call. Callmart routes calls to wherever your agents actually are: a browser softphone, a phone number, a SIP address, or an iPhone, with each agent controlling their own availability.

Three ways a call can reach an agent

DestinationWhat it isGood fit for
Phone number (DID)A standard number you designate as the destinationAn agent who already works from a phone system or cell number
SIP addressA SIP endpoint you designate for deliveryA team already running its own VoIP or contact center system
Browser softphoneBuilt into app.callmart.io on the Twilio Voice SDKAn agent working from a laptop with no phone system of their own

You can mix all three across a team. One agent takes calls on their cell number, another runs the browser softphone from a laptop, and a third answers on the iPhone app. Each destination is set per agent, and the owner can see team usage without dictating how any one person answers.

The softphone and the iPhone app

The browser softphone handles answering inbound calls, placing approved outbound calls, mute, DTMF tones, device selection, and hang up, plus an online or offline presence toggle so an agent controls whether they are reachable. The iPhone app, called Callmart: Pay Per Call in the App Store, mirrors that with a native phone screen: a dialer, recents and call history, mute, audio route, tones, and a minimized in-call bar. It uses VoIP push, so a call can reach the app while it is backgrounded or the phone is locked, which matters for an agent who is not sitting in front of a laptop all day.

There is no Android app. The web platform still works in a mobile browser on any device, but the native phone-screen experience described here is iPhone only, and requires iOS 16.4 or later.

Availability without a shared office

Every agent sets themselves available or off the clock directly in the softphone. There is no shift schedule to configure on Callmart's end and no dispatcher routing calls manually. An agent working a different time zone, a split shift, or a part-time schedule turns their own availability on and off to match, and calls simply stop reaching them the moment they go offline.

  • Per-agent availability toggle, independent of everyone else on the team.
  • Per-campaign on and off toggles at the team level.
  • Daily call limits and per-member daily spending allowances if the team runs under a shared agency wallet.

What holds a distributed team together

Team call activity and reporting are visible to the owner in the workspace regardless of where each agent physically is or which destination they use. Inbound calls are recorded, so a manager who is not on the call, or in the same city, can still review it afterward and coach from the actual conversation instead of a secondhand summary. That review happens on the recording; there is no live listen-in across a distributed team.

Funding a team that never shares a building

A distributed team still runs on one shared wallet, funded through Stripe by whoever holds the owner or finance role, no matter where that person is sitting. Finance access lets someone track wallet balance, funding history, and invoices without needing buying or campaign access, which is useful when the person who manages money is not the same person managing the floor.

Per-member daily spending allowances work the same way remotely as they do in an office: the owner sets a cap for each agent, and that cap follows the agent regardless of time zone or which destination they are using that day.

Getting a remote team running

  1. 01Set up the agency accountOne owner creates the account and gets approved before anyone spends.
  2. 02Invite each agent by emailAssign a role: owner, manager, agent, finance, or reporting.
  3. 03Set each agent's destinationPhone number, SIP address, or the softphone, whatever fits how that person actually works.
  4. 04Turn on availabilityEach agent flips themselves available in the softphone or the iPhone app when they are ready to take calls.

Common questions

01Do all my agents need to use the same destination?

No. Each agent's calls can route to a phone number, a SIP address, or the browser softphone, chosen per person, and you can mix all three across one team.

02Is there an Android version of the app?

No. There is no Android app. The web platform works in a mobile browser on any device, but the native phone-screen app is iPhone only.

03Can an agent miss calls while their phone is locked?

The iPhone app uses VoIP push so an incoming call can reach the app while it is backgrounded or the phone is locked, as long as the agent has set themselves available.

04How does a manager see what a remote agent is doing?

Team call activity and reporting are visible to the owner in the workspace, and recorded calls can be reviewed afterward, without needing everyone in the same location.

05Do we need an office or a phone system to use Callmart?

No. Calls can route to a browser softphone with no phone system at all, or to a phone number or SIP address if your team already has one.
